Paula Merritt Obituary

Paula Francis Merrit, 74, of Washington Court House passed March 1, 2024, at her home.

Paula was born September 18, 1949, in Fayette County to the late Kirby and Mary (Jarrett) McCarty. She was a graduate of Piketon High School. She was a member of the Sugar Creek Baptist Church. Paula was a Godly lady who enjoyed the simple things in life and was very thankful for everything the Lord provided. Her favorite treat was a scratch-off lottery ticket.

Along with her parents, Paula was preceded in death by a grandson, Kaden Hughes, and her siblings, Kirby McCarty, Jr., Lula Secrest, Phyllis Scott, Margaret Anders, Sally Newlan, Robert McCarty, Leroy McCarty, and Christina Longworth.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Danny Merritt; children, Sharman (James) Purdin, David Merritt, and Kirby Merritt; grandchildren, Blakle Lanman, Brooke Glispie, Steven Dilley, Timothy Dilley, and Kaylen Hughes; great grandchildren, Riley and Kinsley Dilley. She also leaves behind her sister, Dorothy (Bob) Morris, several nieces, nephews, and her many friends, including a special friend Marilyn Fredricks and her feline companion, Emily Ann.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place with a memorial service to be announced at a later time.
