John William Gilmore Jr., Age 84, of Washington CH passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at St. Catherine’s Manor in Washington CH.
John was born on July 12, 1934 in Covington, Ohio to the late John and Velma (Clark) Gilmore. He was a graduate of Troy High School. In his younger years he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was very athletic and had even pitched baseball for the Detroit Tigers minor league team for a short time. John was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 25. He was a retired from the US Post Office.
Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by two wives; Peggy (Carr) Gilmore and Virginia (Hornsby) Gilmore, as well as a son, John W. Gilmore III.
Survivors include his children; Kelli Gilmore (Larry Earnhart), Melissa (Bill) Simons, Kimberly Smith and Kyle (DeAnna) Gilmore; as well as, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many friends.
A funeral service is planned for Monday October 1, 2018 at 12:00 pm at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House, Ohio with burial to follow in the Fletcher Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11am until the start of the service.
