Barbara Ann (Williamson) Grooms passed away on October 9, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 79. She was born on November 5, 1946, in Milledgeville, Ohio, and lived a life marked by devotion to her family, steady work, generous care for others, and joy in everyday traditions.

Barbara was a proud member of the Miami Trace High School Class of 1965. She went on to dedicate 30 years of service to Miami Trace Schools, retiring in 2012 as head cook. In that role, she was responsible for feeding nearly 1,100 children each day, and her work reflected the same warmth, dependability, and generosity that shaped the rest of her life. She gave of herself in practical, meaningful ways, and her years with the school system left a lasting impression on many families.

Outside of work, Barbara found happiness in the things she could create and share with others. She enjoyed crocheting and loved cooking and baking, always ready to prepare something for anyone and everyone she could. She liked working in her yard among her flowers and took pride in making her surroundings beautiful. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan who never missed a game, and she also faithfully rooted for the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. One of her greatest joys was watching her children and grandchildren play sports, attending every game she could to support and cheer them on. Barbara also carried the spirit of Christmas with her all year long and delighted in her extensive Santa collection.

Family was at the center of Barbara’s life. She is survived by her sons, Mark (Teresa) Grooms of Jeffersonville and Shawn Grooms of Milledgeville. She also leaves behind a large and cherished family of grandchildren: Sydney (John) Lecea, EmyLee (Colten) Hughes, Piper Grooms, Zoey Grooms, Lawsihn Grooms, Joshua Priest, Chelsea (Keith) Crago, Mason Williams, Art Maxie, Holley Maxie, Harley Maxie, Haley (Austin) Joseph. Her legacy continues as well through her great-grandchildren, Lula Lecea, Vida Lecea, Mika Lecea, Jona Lecea, Stetson Hughes, Sutton Hughes, Sullivan Hughes, Quentin Murta, Daxton Murta, Keegan Williams, Kallie Sharp, and Kaliha Crago. She is also survived by her brother, Billie (Carol) Williamson. Barbara’s love for her family was constant and wholehearted, and the many lives she touched through her care, encouragement, and presence will continue to reflect her memory.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Grooms, her parents Rece and Christine (Shahan) Williamson, and a sister, Helen Trainer.
