Carol Lynn Wiseman, age 77, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026. She was born on December 17, 1948 at the White Cross Hospital in Columbus Ohio as the oldest child to Dr. William E. and Olive (Livvie E.) Wiseman.
Carol was a proud graduate of Unioto High School, the class of 1967. She won a Superior rating on a high school science fair project about mink genetics and excelled in English, especially poetry for Mrs. Attaway. As a teenager, Carol would care for her father’s mink farm every morning and evening. After graduation, she attended the Springfield School of Nursing for one term before deciding to work in various factory locations after learning how to drive. Carol enjoyed pets, starting with her multiple award-winning budgie parakeets before winning contests with her puppies and dogs. Carol owned a Pet Store, MV Critters, in Washington Court House in the 1990s. She was a Beatles fan, especially John Lennon. She was the oldest of the 12 Wiseman first cousins.
Carol survived several factory and work-related accidents plus ailments such as MRSA in her ear. She had two sons, Roger (wife Carisa) Boler, of Chillicothe and Paul V. Vernier of Washington Court House. She is survived by two sisters, Barbara (AKA “Little Seester or That’s My Sissy” and husband Jack) Mahaffey and Cheryl S. (husband Richard) Looney, of Bainbridge, Ohio She also has 5 grandchildren: Kallie Vernier, Kyler Vernier, Ciera (husband David) Marcum, Michele “Shelly” Boler, and Brad (Haley Dyke) Boler, of Chillicothe, Carol also was close to her nieces and nephews, Nikki Mahaffey, William Mahaffey, William “Will” Wiseman, Isaac (wife Jena) Wiseman, and Christina “Chrissy” (husband Jason “Jay”) Friend. Carol was the proud great grandmother of 6 (Tatum, Elayna, Lucas, Rylie, Locklynn, and Ember) and great aunt to 5 (Emilie, Ethan, Vincent, Kai, and Avery with number 6 due in October). She is also survived by Fat Boy, the squirrel who entertained her considerably and was kept in food supplied by Cheryl Looney.
Carol was predeceased by her youngest son, Mark Edwin Vernier, of Washington Court House, her brother William D. Wiseman, of Chillicothe, her parents, and her favorite Pomeranian, Taz. Carol’s cremation will be cared for by Robert’s Funeral Home in Washington Court House, Ohio. She wished for her ashes to be spread on rose bushes. A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall with details to be announced soon.
