Cheryl Lynn (Acord) Simmons, of Washington Court House, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love, on March 28, 2026. Born on January 6, 1954, in her beloved hometown, Cheryl lived a life marked by generosity, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to those she cherished.
A graduate of Washington Senior High School, Cheryl was known not only for her kind and giving spirit but also for her exceptional culinary talents. She was an amazing cook who took great joy in ensuring that no one left her home hungry, always welcoming friends and family with open arms and a full table. Beyond her hospitality, Cheryl had a delightful passion for collecting Basset Hounds, a hobby that reflected her gentle nature and love for life’s simple pleasures.
Cheryl is lovingly remembered by her husband, Samuel Simmons, her sister, Jenny Curl and sisters-in-law, Charlotte and Ruby Simmons. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and her Loving basset hound, Beau. Her many friends, who were like family to her, will especially miss her kindness and the warmth she extended to everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her dear son, Clint Simmons, her parents, Robert and Sylvia (Shipley) Acord and siblings Carol Jean Wilson and Robert Acord, Jr, whose memories she carried in her heart throughout her life.
A funeral service is planned for 6pm on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Pastor Chris Conley officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 4pm until the start of the service. In keeping with her wishes, cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Fayette County Dog Shelter, 1550 Robinson Road SE, Washington Court House, Ohio 43160.
Cheryl Lynn Simmons’s legacy is one of love, generosity, and the quiet strength of a woman devoted to her family and friends—a life beautifully lived and deeply missed by all who knew her.
