It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cindy (Murphy) Southward, who was born on January 10, 1979, in Ashland, Kentucky. Cindy left us suddenly and unexpectedly on May 15, 2026, in Washington Court House, Ohio. Her departure leaves a significant void in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
Cindy was a remarkable woman, deeply cherished by her family and friends. She was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and aunt. Throughout her life, Cindy demonstrated strength, kindness, and a compassionate spirit that touched many hearts.
Cindy was preceded in death by her daughter, Madison Mckenzie Murphy. She is survived by her father, Rodney Murphy, Sr., her mother, Patricia Ann Murphy, and her son, Dylan Murphy of Washington Court House. She was also a treasured sister to Rod Murphy, Jr. and his wife Sheri, Shawn Murphy and his fiancé Laura Tyree, and Jared Murphy. Cindy’s warmth and generosity extended to her nieces and nephews, including Buffy Murphy and her fiancé Nic Brannon, Zach and his wife Hannah Murphy, Shawn Murphy, Jr., and Kyler Murphy. She also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends who came to know and appreciate her vibrant spirit and genuine nature.
Cindy was absolutely adored by her niece, Ava Jo, and her new nephew, Jack Dale.
Most people will remember Cindy as a true Kansas City Chiefs super-fan! She never missed a game and even attended the games when possible.
Cindy's heart truly belonged to her fur-babies. She enjoyed spending time with her dogs, Kiser and Kansas, and her cat, Kelce, more than anything else. Cindy daydreamed about vacations in the Outerbanks and she spent many days, over the years, on the beach in North Carolina with her family. She also enjoyed working on puzzles and floating in sister-in-law's pool during the summer.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place. A celebration of life is being planned for June 20, 2026, in the back room of the Eagles in WCH from 12p-4p.
Donations can be made to the Fayette Regional Humane society in Cindy’s name.
