Cody Marshall Smith

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cody Marshall Smith, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend on August 8, 2025, at the young age of 24. Cody passed in his home state of Michigan. Cody was born in Fremont, Michigan on February 15, 2001.

Cody is survived by his husband of 6 years, Philip Smith, of Jeffersonville, Ohio; adopted mother, Barb Sutton of Michigan; father-in-law, Micheal Smith Sr.; brothers, Micheal Smith Jr., Jon (Skyler) Palmer, and Mathew Bowsher all of Jeffersonville, Ohio, and Jesse Miller Jr., Kyle Miller, Ryan Miller, Lance Miller and Casy Miller all of Michigan; sisters, Sonya (James) Reynolds and Adrieanne Wills both of Michigan, and Bobbi (BJ) Butcher of Jeffersonville, Ohio; nieces, Malea Smith, Hannah Smith-Reyes, Arianna Reynolds and Laikyn Sharrett; nephews, Isaac Smith-Lopez, Cole Reynolds, Xavier Reynolds, Lawson Sharrett and Axton Palmer; father, Jesse Miller of Texas; mother, Celyst Wills, and grandmother, Karen Strecker both of Michigan; as well as his many friends.

Cody is preceded in death by his adopted father, Tony Harris, mother-in-law, Talea Smith and sister, Zanette Smith.

Cody Loved to study Astrology and other cultures. He also enjoyed fishing, geological studies, playing video games on twitch, and most of all spending time with his beloved husband Philip.

A celebration of life with be held at 2pm on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House, Ohio with Pastor Keith Clarity officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12pm until the start of the service. The funeral home will accept donations in Cody’s memory to help directly toward his final expenses.
