The cool, loud, partyin', wild card Darla R Wilson, born September 2, 1964, in Washington Court House, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio.
Her life was characterized by compassion, dedication, and a feisty spirit! Her warmth touched all who knew her.
Darla faced life’s journey surrounded by her family and cherished friends. She is survived by her husband, David Gilbert, who shared her joys and life’s challenges
Her memory lives on through her daughter, Tasha D Wilson, her step-sons, David M Gilbert and Joseph E Gilbert.
Her legacy continues through awesome grandchildren and step grandchildren—Treyen CR Wilson, Leevi CJ Wilson, and step-grandchildren, Nicholas Gilbert, Brianna Gilbert, Braxton Gilbert, Brodie Gilbert, and Hannah Gilbert, also with step great grandchildren. She also leaves behind the only sister she had, Dale Jean Wilson, her three brothers, Daryl W Wilson, Deryk E Wilson, and Daron R Wilson.
She will be fondly remembered by her several nieces, a few nephews, including great nieces and nephews. There are many friends whose lives she enriched with her caring heart, humor, & ready for anything attitude.
It was never boring when Darla was around. She have you laughing so hard, trying not to pee your pants!!
Darla was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Carol (Acord) Wilson, a nephew, a cousin, & an aunt, and all her wonderful pets she has had.
Throughout her life, Darla was known for her volume, always knew she was near. She could be heard a mile away. She was blunt, & didn’t care what anyone thought of her. She wasn't scared of anyone, she was ready to kick butt! She had a deep love for her family, and spoke of them often. She had a nurturing nature about her and compassion for animals, especially her numerous feline friends, she probably has had over 1000 cats in her life!
She took particular joy in the simple things— tending to her rock garden, coloring, hanging out with a friend or 2, listening to her rock music, and riding her bike around town brought her happiness and a sense of freedom. Her home was always impeccably kept, reflecting her attention to detail and the pride she took in her environment. Everything has a place, or throw it away! She cooked the best cheeseburgers. They will be craved.
Darla’s unwavering humor, kindness, and generosity were hallmarks of her personality. She found her greatest fulfillment in nurturing those around her, whether family, friends, or the animals that brought her so much joy.
The memory of Darla R Wilson will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Her devotion and kindness leave an indelible mark, and her spirit will continue to guide her loved ones as they remember the life she so fully lived.
Cremation will take place with a celebration of life to be planned at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions are suggested in Darla's memory to the Fayette Regional Humane Society, 4 Commercial Drive, Washington C.H., OH 43160 or to a foodbank of your choice.
