Daryl E Hamby

Daryl E. Hamby Sr. , 99, of Washington CH passed away Sunday December 16, 2018.

Daryl was born on February 16, 1919, in Ross County. He was a proud veteran of the Ohio National Guard, where he retired as a Master Sergeant in 1979. Daryl worked for and retired from Armco Steel in 1981. He loved working in his garden and nurturing his flowers to share. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, woodworking, singing and sitting on his porch. Daryl was a long-time member of the American Legion post 25.

Daryl was lovingly cared for by his daughter Patti, his son-in-law Ted and granddaughter Angel.  He enjoyed going on car rides, telling stories and going to different restaurants.

Daryl is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edna (Kate), and a son, Daryl Hamby Jr.

Surviving are his children: Gene (Cherry) Hamby of Jamestown, Jerry (Margaret) Hamby of WCH, Patti (Ted) Miller of New Holland and Wanda (Don) Shelley of Hillsboro; as well as, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

A service will take place at 1pm on Friday December 21, 2018 at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington CH with Pastor Mike Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11am until the time of service.
