Listen to Obituary

Esto G. Haithcock, Sr.

Having been baptized out of darkness into the Kingdom of God, Esto entered into his eternal rest at the age of 83 on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Ohio.  He was born in Bloomingburg, Ohio to Meredith and Miomi Mae (Woodfork) Haithcock, June 30, 1932.

Esto is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Evelyn Elaine (Dahmer) Haithcock whom he married on June 15, 1950. He is also survived by his children who will miss him greatly until they meet again on High: Esto Jr.(Kathy), Steven Sr., Cynthia Ann (Phillip Sr.) Collie, and Denise Harris all of Washington Court House, Ohio; Glenna Cross of Columbus, Ohio and Sherri (Gary) Lyon of North Carolina. Esto was further blessed to be survived by 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grand children and 1 great great-grand child. Along with one sister, Medrith (Herbert) Mitchell of South Salem, Ohio and a host of extended family and friends.

Those who preceded him including his parents are his brothers Maurice, Earl, Norris, James Sr. and Bobby Sr. and sister Rebecca Haithcock.

Esto declared his faith as a young man and attended All Nations Church of Christ, now Burning Bush Community Church. He retired from the Ohio Bell Telephone Co. where he was employed for 37 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Esto’s one of a kind character and wonderful sense of humor helped him befriend many elders in the community and as he spent hours in their company he gleaned countless knowledge from their crafts and trades.  So very well-known as the ultimate giver and helper to anyone; “Jack of All Trades.”  His grandchildren have always known their Pawpaw Esto could fix anything! Over the years he gained knowledge of plumbing, electrical, auto repair, clock repair-- you name it!

He was a master collector… Don’t we all know it!

Visitation will be Friday, April 1, 2016 from 4pm-8pm.  Celebration of Life Service to be held Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 11am.  Roberts Funeral Home will serve the family. Interment will follow at Bloomingburg Cemetery.
