Floyd Henry Southward, born on March 17, 1940, in Williamsport, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 10, 2025, in Jeffersonville, Ohio. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, known for his enduring spirit and commitment to those he cared for. Floyd graduated from Washington Senior High School in 1958 before dedicating a significant portion of his life to both his career and family.
Floyd's professional journey began as a supervisor at Cudahy's from 1960 to 1976, followed by a long-standing devotion to Calmar, where he retired after 23 years as a supervisor. His dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his family, with whom he cherished spending time.
A member of the Ohio Army National Guard during the Vietnam War, Floyd earned marksman badges in both pistols and rifles, reflecting his skill and determination. He used his life experiences to offer valuable guidance and advice to others, earning him respect and admiration from friends and family alike.
Recently, Floyd relocated back to Fayette County after spending many years in Little River, South Carolina. His legacy is enriched by his family, which includes his sons Mike (Sonya) Southward of Jeffersonville, Chris Southward of Mt Sterling, Carey (Louann) Gault, and Shane Gault; his grandchildren—Michael Bishop, Megan Southward, Austin (Sarah) Fitzpatrick, Makenzie Southward, Madison (Brady) Hall, Cassy (Cory) Kellough, Cory (MacKenzie) Gault, and Molli (Lane) Gault; along with eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Bobby (Vickie) Southward.
Floyd was predeceased by his father, Floyd C. Southward; mother, Pearl (Hayner) Flowers; his loving wife, Karen (Fuller) Southward; son, Jerry Gault; and his sister, Ruthann (James) Brown.
A funeral is planned for 1pm on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Pastor Tom Payton officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 17th from 5pm to 8pm.
