Gordon “Bud” Leroy Underwood, Jr., age 84, of Washington Court House, passed away April 30, 2014, at his daughter Beverly’s residence.
Gordie was born November 12, 1929 to the late Gordon and Vivian “Doo Doo” Alexander Underwood, Sr. In 1947 he met and married Ellen “Ruth” Smallwood and they made their home in Washington C.H.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Ellen “Ruth” Underwood on March 29, 2014 and his brother, Robert “Sonny” Underwood of San Diego, California.
He is survived by son, Ronald L. (Sharon) Underwood; daughter, Beverly (Ronald) Logsdon; grandsons, Todd Hesson, Richard Clark II, Ronnie Logsdon, Jr., Shawn and Dusty Underwood; granddaughters, Julie Noel Clark, Lisa Hilty and Tracy Medj; 22 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Gordie was a 1949 graduate of the Washington Court House High School and retired from Armco Steel after 35 years of service. In addition he worked in the paint department at Walmart and mowed for the city of Washington Court House.
He enjoyed spending his time traveling around with his daughter and son in law showing the family’s 1968 Camaro.
Gordie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Washington C.H. and Heritage Memorial Church, but recently moved his membership to the First Baptist Church of Grove City. Praising God and loving his family was the most important thing in Gordie’s life.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 5, 2014, from 4–7 p.m. at the Wellman-Kinzer & Godorhazy Funeral Home, 509 Washington Ave., Washington C.H., Ohio. Funeral service Tuesday, 12 p.m. noon at the funeral home. Interment to follow Washington Cemetery.
