Helen L Herman (nee Hiles), age 82, passed away on April 17th, 2014. She was born in Wilmington, Ohio to O.M. “Pat” Hiles and Pearl (Lemming) Hiles on the 16th of July, 1931. Helen was a long-term resident of the Court House Manor nursing home in Washington Court House, Ohio. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene Herman, her infant son Darryl Lee Smalley, stillborn twins Donald and Dana Underwood, her adult daughter Dawn Marie Herman and her sister and brother-in-law Wanda and Howard Yerian. She is survived by sons Donald (Sharon) Herman and Dana (Debbie) Herman, both of Hillsboro; four granddaughters, Tara Luikart of Washington Court House, Sabrina Herman of Dayton, Katie Herman of Bainbridge and Kemmy Herman of Hillsboro; and a great grandson, Cole Holland of Washington Court House, as well as three nieces and a nephew. Helen was a veteran of the US Army and worked at the Fayette County Community Action for many years as the CETA coordinator. She was a member of the Ohio Industrial Commission and she also worked in the Pickaway County Department of Human Resources for many years, retiring from that office in 1996. Arrangements are by the Wellman-Kinzer-Godorhazy Funeral Home. By her request there will be no visitation and no military ceremonies. Private family interment, where she will be laid to rest beside her daughter, Dawn Marie Herman, in the Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the children's charity of their choice. She also wished to express special thanks to the late Dr Gay, her personal physician for many years, her current personal physician Dr Juschka and to the staff of Court House Manor nursing home.
