Jack Lee Bakenhester, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, at the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio, with family by his side. Born on May 9, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio, Jack lived a life distinguished by his dedication to family, his career, and his service to his country.
Jack proudly served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant before returning to civilian life. His military service instilled in him a sense of duty and camaraderie that he carried with him throughout his life. He worked many years in IT for Federated Department Stores and the State of Ohio.
He is survived by his daughters, Jodi Bakenhester (Mike Banik) and Julie (Kemp) Parker, and his son, Dante Cordi, grandchildren, Josh Banik, Josh Snyder, Justin Snyder, Jackie Haire, Jeff Simpson, Jr., and Jenna Parker, along with numerous great-grandchildren. Jack also leaves behind his loving siblings, Eugene (Tanya) Bakenhester, Brenda (Doug) Krieger, and John (Cindy) Bakenhester. They shared many cherished memories and stories, which will continue to keep his spirit alive in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Betty Ann (Braden) Bakenhester, wives, Karen S. and Mardean Bakenhester, and a sister, Ruth Ann Carter.
A memorial service with military honors will take place at 1pm on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House, Ohio With Pastor Robert Seymour officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home from 11am until the start of the service.
