Jesse Alan McFadden, 60, of New Holland passed away on the evening of May 30, 2024, at the OSU Wexner Medical Center, following a long a hard-fought battle with acute myeloid leukemia.
Jesse was born September 9, 1963, in Washington Court House to the late Larry and Carolyn (O’Neal) McFadden. He was a member of the Miami Trace High School graduating class of 1983. He had worked many years in the home repair industry, with roofing being his specialty. He was a lifetime member of the New Holland Methodist Church, which he called home. Jesse was an avid hunter and all-around lover of nature and the outdoors. He had a special connection to animals, allowing him to get close to and seemingly communicate with animals of all kinds. Jesse was proud to have celebrated 20 years of sobriety. He would often attend AA meetings and church groups related to addiction and allow his experience and guidance to help countless others in their battles. Most importantly, Jesse was a family man loving his grandchildren more than life itself. He did manage to fit in his share of chin bops and practical jokes which will leave so many good memories for his family to carry with them.
Along with his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by an infant son, Justin McFadden. He was also greeted at Heaven’s Gate by his pets Feather Ann, CC Marie, Tina Faye, and by a grand pet, Coco Marie.
Remaining to carry on his legacy of love are his wife, the former Cheryl Ann Souders, whom he married September 24, 1998; his children, Joshua McFadden of Columbus, Jeremy (Jill) Shipley of New Holland, and Jason (Jodi) Shipley of Granville; grandchildren, Rhonda “Roo” Shipley (Corey Hanna), Isaiah (Mindy) Shipley, Bentley McFadden, Scarlett McFadden, and Judas Sones; former daughter-in-law, Kimberly (Josh) Sones; and great grandchildren, Carter and Maverick Shipley. He also leaves behind siblings, Mark (Jackie) McFadden, Dale (Lora) McFadden, and Amanda McFadden, step siblings Chris (Tim) Waugh, Lori (Mike) Rubel, Rusty Landman, and Tim Landman, and several nieces and nephews, as well as his many dear and special friends, including his current canine friends, Jaycee, Rosie, and Willow.
A funeral is planned for 5pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the New Holland Methodist Church with Pastor Linda Crews officiating. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church from 3pm until the start of the service. Roberts Funeral Home is caring for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, https://www.lls.org/ways-to-give.
