Joe Neal Tanner, 62, of Washington Court House passed November 1, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio with family at his side. Joe was born October 31, 1962, in Columbus, Ohio to Joe and the late Betty (Goff) Tanner. He was a member of the South High School Graduating Class of 1981. Joe was known for being a lighthearted jokester. He loved using his sense of humor to bring a smile or laugh from those around him. He was a member of Mid Ohio Jeepers Organization. Some of Joe’s favorite times were a simple ride in his jeep, creating memories with his family on trips to Tennessee and West Virginia, and taking his son Hunter for his first deer hunting trip. He also enjoyed watching Hunter’s games for his high school bowling team. The family would like extend heartfelt thanks to great friends Jerry and Jan Harris, sister-in-law Donna Adams, and nieces Jessica Hennessy and Suzanne Lintner for their support. Joe was an incredible son, husband, father, and friend, who will leave a lasting void in the lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty and his father-in-law, Elmer “Gene” Adams. Along with his father, survivors include his loving wife Gena (Adams) Tanner, whom he married November 10, 2000; his son, Hunter Tanner; mother-in-law, Judy Adams; and, sisters-in-law Donna Adams, Jane (Jim) Rowland, and Linda (Tony) Trout. He also leaves behind a sister and brother-in-law, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his many friends. A service is planned at 11am on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House. Burial will follow in the Highlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, November 6th from 4 to 7pm.
