Joseph “Joe Joe” Frank Hess, 64, passed away peacefully with family by his side on May 19, 2026 in Springfield, Ohio. He was born on September 30, 1961 in Dayton, Ohio and attended Miami Trace High School. He was a musician at heart and enjoyed playing the clarinet in both symphonic and marching bands. His passion for music continued throughout his life and was shared with others especially his nieces and nephews, many of whom attended their first concerts with him.

Joseph’s laughter could fill a room and was contagious. He was a very talented dancer, and his joyful and social personality made him the life of the party. He enjoyed hosting gatherings, traveling to warmer climates, and sharing his enthusiasm for growing beautiful indoor plants with others. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE) Aerie 423 where he formed lasting friendships with countless members.

Joseph loved his friends and family deeply, and he was greatly loved in return. He had a special bond with his many nieces and nephews who fondly remember their family dinners and Euchre tournaments. His niece, Mary, especially looked forward to her “Uncle Joe Days,” which included various outings and America’s Funniest Home Video watch parties.

Joseph’s kind, generous, and joyful heart was rooted in his love for our Lord. He was a member of Saint Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church where he attended Mass regularly.

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Bernard Hess and Patricia Gertrude (Bergemier) Hess. He is survived by his siblings Mike (Chris) Wright, John (Linda) Wright, Jimmy (Rhonda) Wright, Carl (Gina) Hess, Chris (Robin) Hess, and twin sister, Lana (John) Elrich. He is deeply loved by his many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House with an Eagles Ceremony at 7:00pm followed by a Rosary service at 7:15pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Saint Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church with Fr. C.M. Haddad. Interment in Saint Colman Cemetery and luncheon will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests prayers and Mass offerings for the sure repose of the soul of our brother, Joseph. Eternal rest grant unto him, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of the faithfully departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
