Larry Allen Collins passed away on May 12, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 14, 1952, in Washington Court House, Ohio, Larry spent his life deeply connected to the place he called home.

Larry attended Miami Trace High School, where his early years laid the foundation for a life marked by dedication and camaraderie. He proudly served as a member of the Ohio National Guard, reflecting his steadfast commitment to service.

Professionally, Larry spent many years working in the maintenance department at McKesson, where his reliability and expertise earned him great respect. More recently, he lent his skills to help haul grain for Gustin Farms.

Larry was a man of many interests. A passionate Cincinnati Reds fan, he found joy in cheering on his team. He also enjoyed the thrills of NASCAR and shared memorable times testing his luck at casinos alongside his gambling buddies. In earlier years, Larry’s enthusiasm for demolition derbies not only showcased his adventurous spirit but also brought excitement to those around him.

Larry is survived by his children: Charles (Lee Ann) Pickens of New Vienna, Tracy (Todd) Potts of Washington Court House, and Douglas (Crystal) Pickens of Carrollton. He also leaves behind his stepchildren Wesley (Kelly) Jester, Crystal Jester, and Kim (Matt) Jackson. His legacy extends through seven grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren , and nine step-great grandchildren. Larry’s siblings who survive him include Phyllis (Terry) Greathouse, Leonard (Charlene) Collins, Gary Collins, Marvin (Terresa) Collins, Elizabeth Mongold, and Amanda (Collins) Yambor. He was cherished by many extended family members and friends who mourn his loss deeply.

Larry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vickie (Knisley) Collins; his parents Ben and Mae (Russell) Collins; and siblings Esther Collins, Buddy "Charles" Collins, and Margaret Bonecutter as well as his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ernest and Mary Knisley.

A funeral service is planned for 11am on Monday, May 18, 2026 at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House. Burial will follow in the White Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 7pm on Sunday, May 17th. Following the graveside service, a time of food and fellowship with take place at the Fayette County Fairgrounds Fine Arts Building (at the rear of the Mahan Building), 213 Fairview Ave., Washington Court House, Ohio 43160. 

Larry Allen Collins lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a generous spirit. He will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who had the privilege to know him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire and live on through his family and community.
