MARY ALBERTHA (BRADY) ALLEN
Mary Albertha Allen was born on December 23, 1934, in Mount Sterling, Ohio, to Levi and Odie Montgomery Brady. She graduated from Mt. Sterling High School, lived most of her adult life in Washington Court House, and passed away on June 22 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Known as Mary to some, but “Berta,” “Aunt Berta,” or “Grandma” to family, she touched so many of those who knew and loved her with her sense of humor, kind heart, and down-to-earth authentic personality.
She loved her family and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed the outdoors and working in her yard when she was able. She was an avid fan of professional sports, especially the Cleveland Guardians and Browns. And she didn’t hesitate to be an “armchair coach” calling the shots while watching the games at home. Albertha also loved making connections with neighbors and children while working as a manager at Sagar’s Dairy on Elm Street and later at Kmart and Walmart. She was friendly and caring and hard to forget if you met her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger “Skip” Allen, their son Tracy, and brothers Leo, James, Joe, and sister Hattie. She is survived by her son, Jerry Brady (Linda Forsha), and her grandsons Craig, Kyle (Breanna), Nathan, and Brian Forsha, and great-grandchildren Kennedy, Payton, Sydney, Oshea, Marceline, and Kiniah. She is also survived by her sister Freda Cain of Columbus, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews, as well as her walking buddy Brian Dunn. They all loved her dearly and will deeply miss her. But the bonds of family and friends are never broken. To our sister, Aunt, grandmother, and friend, we will love you forever, Mary Albertha. You will always have a piece of our hearts.
The family invites you to join them in honoring the life of Mary Albertha Allen at her funeral, which will be held on Friday, June 28, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 509 Washington Avenue, Washington Court House, Ohio, 43160.
The family will receive friends starting at 11 a.m., and services will begin at 1 p.m. A graveside burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery in Washington Court House.
