Listen to Obituary

Mary Anna (Massie) Durban passed peacefully at her home on June 2, 2021 at the age of 81.

Mary was born in Columbus, Ohio to the late Ivan and Frances (Marcum) Durban. She attended West High School in Columbus. Later she attended Columbus State and Southern State.  Mary was dedicated and hard working. Her knowledge and life experience led her to further her education and advance in her career, where she became a Director of Dietary in the Ohio State Prison System. In her retirement years she went back to work in the library at Southern State  (Green Thumb) helping obtain resources for other students. She was devout in her beliefs as a Jehovah’s Witness. She attended the Washington Court House Kingdom Hall. Mary was fun-loving and had a real sense of humor but could be very outspoken and a strong advocate should the necessity arise. She will be remembered by those closest to her for her caring and giving soul. She would often feed the neighborhood, and at one point actually gave up clothing she was wearing to help someone else.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Karen (Massie) Stires, Don Massie, Mary “Kaki” Coey, and Donna Massie and their families.

In keeping with her request, cremation will take place with no formal services at this time. Roberts Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Instead of flowers the family ask for donations to either the Humane Society, 153 S. Main St, Washington Court House, OH 43160 or the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1702 County Hwy 22 A, Washington Court House, OH 43160
