Robert Dale Short , 46, of Washington Court House, Ohio, entered the gates of Heaven early Saturday morning, January 16, 2016, at his home, unexpectedly.
Dale was born on August 10th, 1969, at Berger Hospital, in Circleville, Ohio to Wendell and Betty Short.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Tommy Allen Short, and his father and mother-in-law, Tom and Betty Williams.
He is survived by his wife, best friend, and soul mate Mendy Williams Short, of Washington Court House, Ohio, whom he married on February 24th, 1999. They spent 21 loving years with one another, making incredible memories; three children, Robert Short Jr., Mitchell (Ashley) Lindsey, and Hunter Short; the light of his life, Papaw's best friend, and one and only grandson, Colden Lindsey; Siblings Jim and Sherry Short, of Laurelville, Ohio, and their children, April (Phil) Riffle and Carey (Josh) McFarland; Jack and Joyce Short, of Frankfort, Ohio, and their children, Corey, Traci, Trena and Gary; Randy and Pamela Short, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and their children, Lagena Short, Shelly Short, and Randy Jr. Short; Mark and Penny Short, of Circleville, Ohio, and their children, Venus (Charlie) Beverly, Michael (Jessica) Short, and Krystal (Puma) Short; Bernie and Marie Steiger, of Kingston, Ohio, and their children, Hank (Misty) Steiger, and Chelsea (Eric) Ludlum;Niece, Jennifer Doherty; Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Kristi Williams, of Xenia, Ohio, and her Children, Jared (Audrey) Watson, and Brenden Watson; Steve Williams, of Wilmington, Ohio; Tonya Prickett, of Grove City, Ohio, and her children, Paige (Bo) Arutyunov, and Seth (Melissa) Prickett; Randy Williams, of Greenfield, Ohio, and his child Kyle Williams; Melody (John) Moon, of Washington C.H., Ohio, and their children, Meagan (John) Coffman, and Chelsie (Jordan) Snively; Tomi (Troy) Shaw, of Washington C.H., Ohio, and their children, Tyler (Amanda) Williams, Spencer (Penny), Riley (Anna), and Cameron Shaw. He was the proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Dale was a graduate of the class of 1988, from Logan Elm High School. He was a prominent baseball player, and still holds the record for single season hits. He was also offered a scholarship to play baseball at Rio Grande University. Dale was an avid sports fan; he loved the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and was a huge NASCAR fan.
Calling hours will be held at Roberts Funeral Home (formerly Wellman-Kinzer), on Thursday, January 21st, from 4-7 p.m., with funeral service immediately following. The service will be led by one, of many special nephew, Spencer Shaw, and will proceed by an open floor eulogy, for friends and family whom wish to share their story of Dale. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions are suggested to Roberts Funeral Home, 509 Washington Ave, Washington Court House, Ohio, in care of Robert Dale Short.
