Roger Allen Penwell

Roger Allen Penwell, 75, of Washington CH passed away October 12, 2024, shortly after arrival at the Adena Fayette Medical Center. He had been in failing health for some time.

Roger was born April 23, 1949, in Fayette County to the late William and Della (Campbell) Penwell. Following school, Roger enlisted with The US Army, proudly serving our country as a Vietnam Veteran. He was a past member of the VFW. After his military service, Roger held positions at Colonial Stair in Jeffersonville, as a butcher for Penington’s Grocery in New Martinsburg, and as a band saw operator for Halliday Lumber. He enjoyed watching several shows after retirement including two of his favorites, the Waltons and The Dukes of Hazard.

Along with his parents, He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Derryberry, and all 8 of his siblings.

Survivors include his wife, the former Priscilla Ann Duncan, whom he married May 20, 1968; sons, Ricky Allen Penwell of Lynchburg and Darrel (Wendy) Penwell of WCH; grandchildren, Katie (Billy) Groves and James Jenkins; as well as his many friends, including his special K-9 friend, Babe.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place with no formal services scheduled at this time.
