Listen to Obituary

Stanley Richard Helfrich, born on August 16, 1949, in Washington Court House, Ohio, left this world peacefully in his home on August 27, 2025. He was a devoted family man, a cherished friend, and a beloved figure in his community. Stanley's life was a testament to the values of hard work, compassion, and dedication.

Stanley spent many years as the produce man for Helfrich Supermarket, where his friendly smile and willingness to assist others created a welcoming environment for customers. His career path also led him to serve as a custodian for Washington City Schools, where he became known not just for maintaining the facilities, but for his uplifting personality that touched the lives of many students. In particular, he had a soft spot for mentoring young people and actively engaged with students at Cherry Hill and Washington Senior High School. Stanley's commitment to nurturing future generations was a hallmark of his life.

A proud graduate of Washington Senior High School, he carried with him the values he learned there throughout his life. He was known as a passionate supporter of Washington Blue Lion athletics, especially the girls' softball program. He dedicated countless hours to assisting with various aspects of Blue Lions sports events, whether he was found working ticket booths or cheering from the stands, reveling in the victories of the teams he held dear.

Stanley's warmth and kindness resonated within his community, and he fostered countless friendships over the years. He is survived by his granddaughter, Bryanna Helfrich Ramnarain; brother, P.R. Marshall; and many beloved nieces and nephews including Michael Cox, Diana (Joe) Valone, Paula Cox Pontious, Pam Depriest, Brian (Tammy) Helfrich, Kari Helfrich, Deann Merritt, and Julie (Eric) Burton. Stanley shared special bonds with dear friends Steve Ross and Eddie West, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews, and a wide circle of devoted friends.

He joins in eternal peace his parents, Robert and Margaret (Little) Helfrich; his daughter, Christina Helfrich; sisters, Rosann Litzinger and Mary Cox; and a brother, Bob Helfrich.
