Steven Douglas Clay

Steven Douglas Clay, 63, of Washington CH passed away peacefully at home following an extended illness.

Steve was born February 8, 1959, in Washington CH. He was a 1977 graduate of the Miami Trace High School. Steve loved classic cars. He had rebuilt a few in his garage while enjoying some classic rock. He had owned a dirt track car and enjoyed weekends racing it at the 35 Raceway. He was an avid fan of both the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals. Steve had recently joined the Sugar Creek Baptist Church. He had many passions in life, but none more important than his family. He and Joyce would host game night for a board game occasionally, at which Steve could get fairly competitive. He also attended every sporting event that he was able to in support of his sons and grandchildren. He was one of a kind and lived life his way. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Clay, and a nephew, Derek Clay.

Steve is survived by his mother, Gwendolyn (Meyer) Bishop; his wife, the former Joyce Watson whom he married September 16, 1978; his children Jeremy (Randalia) Clay and Josh (Rhianna) Clay; grandchildren, Connor Morarity, Madison Brown, Landon Clay, Andrew Clay, Colter Clay, and Kellen Clay; sister, Suzanne (Larry) Brown; and a brother, Scott (Andrea) Clay. He also leaves his nephews, Hayden Brown, Carter Clay, and Hunter Brown as well as special aunts and uncles, and his many friends.

A celebration of life is planned at 6pm on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington CH with Pastor Mike Henry officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4pm until the start of the service. In keeping with Steve’s wishes cremation has taken place and burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
