Steven Lee Overly passed peacefully at his home on August 30, 2024, at the age of 69.
Steve was born November 16, 1954, in Washington Court House to the late Eugene and Jean (Cox) Overly. Between his joyous spirit and his sense of humor, people just enjoyed being around him. Steve was an artistic and very creative person which explained the countless hours spent “piddling” around in the garage finding new things to build or fix. His back yard was an ultimate playland that he created especially for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed celebrating the holidays, with wall-to-wall decorations and elaborate light displays to be enjoyed by all who passed by. He enjoyed visiting antique stores and flea markets searching for cookie jars and salt & pepper shakers to add to his collection. His most important role was that of an amazing father and an even greater “Paps” to his grandkids. He leaves a legacy of love and laughter for all of us to aspire to.
Along with his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his wife Rhonda in 2018; an infant daughter, Stephanie Lynn Overly, brothers, Mike Overly Nick Haynes, and Jerry Haynes and his beloved aunt, Betty Haynes.
Survivors include his daughters, April (Casey) Barr of Lebanon, and Andrea (Bryan) Campbell of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Ahneka and Amelya Campbell and Alaina, Trevor, Hailey and Lindsay Barr; sisters, Vicki (Larry) McGuire and Marsha (Carl) Phillips; a brother, Terry (Becky) Overly; as well as his many extended family members and friends.
A memorial service is planned for 6pm on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Pastor Dany Dodds officiating. In keeping with Steve’s wishes, cremation will take place. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5pm until the start of the service.
