Verna Jean Adams , Age 80, of Washington CH was welcomed into the gates of Heaven on the morning of January 14, 2017.

She was born on March 20, 1936 in Washington CH to the late Homer and Anna Kelly Rayburn. She had spent all her life in this area, graduating from the Jeffersonville High School. She attended the First Church of God until illness prevented her. She loved watching golf on TV but never took up the sport herself. She also enjoyed watching the Reds and OSU when she got a chance. She is described by her children as the type of mother they wish everyone could have. The love for her family was endless. Her love for baking was enjoyed by the family and the neighborhood children as well.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Norman “Duke” Adams; a sister, Alice Puckett; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Rayburn; and a brother-in-law, David Perry.

Surviving are her children, Danita (Dale) McFadden, Norman “Chip” Adams Jr. and Kimberly Roberts (Matt Warning); grandchildren, Beth Adams (Michael Sluder), J.R. (Ashley) Roberts, Courtney Adams (Joey Mullins), Erin (Alex) Poe, Chelsea Adams, Nick Roberts, Dustin McFadden and Kevin (Stefan)Roberts Jr.; great-grandchildren, Baley, Jaylen, Hudson, Delaney, Zoey, Emmalyn, Colton, Hudson, Brynlee, Cole and Anson; 6 step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Barb (Marvin) Bick, Priscilla (Joe) Adams, Wayne (Donna) Rayburn, Hughey (Mary) Rayburn, Gary Rayburn and Marsha Perry; and a brother-in-law, Dave Puckett; as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington CH with pastor Timothy L. White officiating. Burial will follow in the Highlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7pm.

Anyone wishing to give contributions to Hospice of Fayette County in lieu of flowers in her memory would be appreciated. The family will be gathering after the funeral at The American Legion post 25 on US Rte 22.
