Barbara Jean (Horner) Roberts

Barbara Jean (Horner) Roberts, 81, of Washington Court House, Ohio, formerly of Mantua, passed away September 26, 2023, at her home.

Barbara was born March 05, 1942, in Ravenna, Ohio to Webster and Betty (Pennel) Horner. Following High School, she attended Kent State University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree. Barbara had worked for nearly 16 years at Lima Memorial Hospital as their Director of Volunteers. She later worked as a volunteer herself at both the Medina Hospital and for several years at the Fayette Memorial Hospital, where she staffed the front desk and the gift shop. As a young lady Barbara had an affinity for horses and often recalled stories of her riding her horse, Tony. In her later years, she enjoyed reading and completing word search puzzles. She had a very grateful spirit and is remembered for her beautifully written cards and thank you notes.

Along with her parents, she was recently preceded in death by her husband, Cedric Alan Roberts and a grandson, Duren Roberts.

Survivors include her children, Mark (Amanda) Roberts of MN, and David (Dawn) Roberts of WCH; grandchildren, Denver Fawcett, Daniel Roberts, and Chris; as well as her sister, Patricia Harrison, and her many friends.

Cremation will take place with a memorial service planned for Monday, October 9, 2023, at 2pm at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House, Ohio. A gathering of friends and family will take place for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Barbara’s memory.
