Charles Armbrust Obituary

   Charles Ronald Armbrust, age 96, of Washington C.H., Ohio, passed away on July 30, 2019 at Four Seasons Nursing Home.    

   Armbrust was born on December 28, 1922, in Fayette County to Elmer and Rosa (Garringer) Armbrust. After graduating from Washington High School, he joined the military serving his country as a B-17 aircraft mechanic with the 15th Army Air Force service command in Foggia, Italy, during World War II. After the war, he worked on his father’s farm until 1955; then, he took over the Sugar Creek Stone Quarry that his father opened in 1927 and ran it successfully until his retirement in 1987. He continued staying active collecting antiques and flying small aircraft and attending antique tractor shows and festivals. Ronald (as called by family and friends) was a loyal son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone who knew and loved him.

Armbrust is survived by his children: Sharon K., Wash. C.H.; Rodger H., Springfield, Ohio; E. Frank, Wash. C.H.; Susie Swayne, Wash. C.H., and 6 grandchildren (Brock, Robbie, Chris, Melinda, Richie, & Holly) and 5 great-grandchildren, one sister, Joretta Brunner, Wash. C.H., and various nieces and nephews and long-time friend Raymond Rittenhouse. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Florence (Holland); daughter Holly Denice; 4 sisters: Hazel Caplinger, Mary May (infant), Kitty Workman, and Bonnie True; 6 brothers: Alvin, Elden, Forest (infant), Elmer Frank II (infant), Freddie, and Willard.

   A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Rick Garringer officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at Pastor Todd Wallace’s Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, 4679 State Rt. 41 South, Washington Court House, Ohio, on August 17th at 4:00 pm. A meal and fellowship time will follow immediately afterward at the church.
