David Reid Obituary

David Charles Reid passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at his home in Bookwalter.  He was 87.

David was born on November 1, 1934 in Fayette County to Howard “Bud” and Marie (Noble) Reid.

He was a member of the Jeffersonville High School Class of 1952.  Following graduation, David served in the Army’s 22nd Field Artillery Battalion, 4th Armored Division.  While in Germany in the late 1950s, he crossed paths with Elvis Presley, who was stationed at the base during his service.  David worked for nearly 30 years at Morris Bean and Company in Yellow Springs and Cedarville as an Industrial Engineering Supervisor.

In retirement, David enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Florida and Ohio, working on the family farm and reading extensively about military history.

He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who left an enduring impact upon his family and network of friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Peggy Beth Reid, and two amazing wives: Donna Faye Reid (Dawes), who he was married to for 20 years; and Sharon Kay (Rhoades-Baker) Reid, with whom he shared 29 wonderful years.

He is survived by a son, Ryan David Reid of Tampa, FL; stepsons Bart Baker of Ft. Myers, FL, and Bret Baker of Dunnellon, FL; a granddaughter, McKinley Faye Reid of Tampa, FL; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and family members of both wives whom he loved dearly; and special friends Barry Thompson, Roger Belles, Mike Belles, Josh & Heather Pitstick, Tracey Cokonougher, Bill & Edie Coe, Myrna Cockerill and Barbara Hall.

Cremation services are being handled by Roberts Funeral Home, 509 Washington Avenue in Washington Court House.  A Celebration of Life will be held later this fall, with details to follow for family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in care of Hospice of Fayette County, 222 North Oakland Avenue, WCH, OH 43160.
