Lord, Thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought Forth, or ever thou hast formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting.
Thou art God
Thy Kindgom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
So, teach us to number our days...for life is soon gone and we fly away.
And the favor of the Lord our God be upon us.
Gary Zebedee Lyon was called to his eternal home with his Lord Jesus on Monday, September 25, 2023, in Blackstock, South Carolina. He was born April 12, 1960, in Springfield Ohio.
Gary was loved as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be lovingly missed by his precious wife Sherri, whom he married February 14, 1993.
Truly a family man as a hard-working husband and father, providing well for his family. Retiring a short two months ago, he began enjoying time with his wife playing pickleball with friends.
He served as an elder for some time at Christ Palace Ministries in Charlotte, N.C. Ministry of God’s word delighted him at any given opportunity. He loved helping others and had a heart for God and family. A vast and loving family survives him, including his devoted wife of 30 years, Sherri (Haithcock) Lyon. Also, his children Steven Offenbaker, Edward (Katie) Lyon, Tonya (James) Nichols, Brianna (Derek) Best, Gary Matthew Lyon, Carah Lyon, and Patience (Juan) Ammons. His precious grandchildren Idalas Nelson, Destiny Farris, Alyssa (Miguel) Mogollon, Regan Hughes, Dillon Lyon, Ashton Lyon, Alexander Lyon, Jocelyn Lyon, Hannah Joyce, Jeremiah Best, Bryleigh Best, and Kensley Best.
Cherishing the memory of her son is Oneida Dillard of Springfield, Ohio and sisters, Kim (Roger) Lewis, Edwina (Rick) Mendenhall and Roxanne (Mike) South. Preceded in death by father, Edward Dillard, brother Timothy Dillard, and a grandson Ian Landers. Also mourning this hour is his mother Louella Nelson along with siblings Randall (Rita) Hunt, G. Michael Nelson, Jennifer (Jessee) Hibbett and Jacque Langton, being pre-deceased by Father Gary Nelson.
Unto thee oh Lord, do I lift up my soul. Let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies' triumph over me. Psalms 25: 1-2
A memorial service is planned for 12pm on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Derek Best officiating. A gathering of friends and family will take place for one hour prior to the service. The family invites you to wear something blue, Gary’s favorite color, to help honor him during his homegoing celebration. Due to the recent uptick in Covid-19, the family asks that you please wear masks to help mitigate risks to all those attending with fragile health. A time of food and fellowship will follow the service at the Court House Nazarene Church Fellowship Hall, 990 State Route 41, Washington Court House, Ohio.
