Marlene "Marty" Kay Merritt

Marlene Kay “Marty” Merritt of Washington CH passed on June 8, 2021 at the age of 74, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Marty was born September 30, 1946, in Freemont, Ohio to the late Clyde and Pauline (Geiger) Mitchell. She had worked as an aid and caregiver most of her life. She was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 423. Marty and her late husband Garry had enjoyed square dancing and round dancing. They were former members of both the B Rounders and the Clinton County Squares.

Along with her parents, Marty was preceded in death by her husband Garry Merritt in 2012.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey A. Merritt and Leaha Merritt Lindsey both of Washington CH, and her grandsons, Zachery and Nicholas Merritt. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Rebecca Griswold as well as many nieces and nephews, and her many dear friends including her canine companions, Tom and Jerry.

A funeral service will be held at 6pm on Friday, June 11^th at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Joy Stanforth officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4pm until the start of service.
