Nina Davis Rolfe Obituary

Nina Kathryn Smith Davis Rolfe, 99, of Washington CH passed away on January 23, 2019 in her home, following a brief illness.

She was born September 16, 1919 in Milledgeville, Ohio to the late Earl R and Margaret (Allen) Smith. She had attended school in Sabina and Bloomingburg before graduating from Washington High School in 1937. After graduation, she worked at Patterson Field during World War II as a clerk typist. Following the war, Nina spent many years on the farm. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed working with the livestock, especially her chickens. She sold countless number of eggs to the community. Nina had a special place in her heart for horses and German Shepherd dogs. She returned to outside work at Buckeye Mart and Fisher Big Wheel until her retirement in 1987. In her later years she remained active. She loved attending the Fayette County Fair, going to auctions and watching rodeos. In the last few years, she spent countless hours at Our Place Restaurant. She enjoyed her time with the staff there as well as the many customers she would visit with. Throughout her life, she continued to be a hard worker. She was dedicated in her love for her family and friends, as well as, the good Lord above. She was a walking history lesson that no school or lesson could teach. She lived it for over 99 years. She was an amazing woman.

Along with her parents, Nina was preceded in death by her first husband, Adam W. Davis, in 1984, her second husband, Robert “Bob” Rolfe, in 2003 and a brother, Allen Smith, in 1995.

Survivors include her sons Dick (Juanita) Davis of WCH and Michael Davis (Frankfort); granddaughters, Misty (Bret) Sanderson, Charity Owens and Harlie Davis; step-grandsons, Jason (Valerie) Havens, Jerry (Lori) Havens, Jody (Michelle) Havens and Jim Havens; as well as 15 great-grandchildren and a host of friends, including 3 special friends, Johnny Lute Sr., who had helped her for years, Pastor Joe Duvall, and Sheriff Vernon Stanforth.

A funeral service is planned at 11am Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Duvall officiating. Burial will follow in the Milledgeville Plymouth Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 28th from 4-7pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Ohio Hospice of Fayette County, 222 N.
