Wanda Jane (Washburn) Merritt

Wanda Jane Merritt, 87 of Washington CH passed May 20, 2023, peacefully at her home.

Jane was born June 28, 1935, to the late Joseph and Sarah (Clyburn) Washburn. Jane led a very active life. She was a graduate of Washington Senior High School. She was a cheerleader for 4 years. She was also the lead in many plays and musicals. She was a member of the National Honor Society, The National Thespian Society, and the local Altrusa Club. While in school, she met her husband Norman Merritt, upon which they were married 69 years. During their marriage they were blessed with 4 daughters, Debbie Self, Diane Shriner, Linda (Russell) Bernard, and Laura Lenhart. They were also blessed with 9 grandchildren, Brad (Erica) Self, Cody Self, Britany Neild, Ashley (Joel) Foster, Cara (Jason) Marples, Emily Shriner, Matthew Bernard, Lindsey (Ian) Hummel, Joseph Lenhart, and 12 great grandchildren, Cloey Self, Noah Nield, LillyBelle Nield, Levi Nield, Colton Shinskie, Sierra Stone, Maelyn Marples, Oliver Adshade, Liam Hummel, Ella Hummel, Mia Hummel, Ava Hummel.

Visitation will be held May 27, 2023, from 2 to 4pm at the Staunton United Methodist Church, 4820 US Hwy 62 SW, Washington C.H., OH 43160. A funeral service will follow at 4pm with Pastor Mark Armstrong officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1pm Tuesday, May 30th in the Judy Chapel at the Washington Cemetery, 1741 Washington Ave., Washington C.H., OH 43160. Roberts Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Jane requested no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name are suggested to an animal charity of your choice or to Ohio’s Hospice of Fayette County, 222 N. Oakland Ave., Washington C.H., OH 43160.
