William “Bill” Paul Metz, 73, of Jamestown passed away August 9, 2023, at the Kettering Health Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
Bill was born March 27, 1950, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Paul and Mary Lou (Hawker) Metz. He was a graduate of Beavercreek High School class of 1968. Bill was a carpenter by trade, specializing in commercial structures. He had 55 years of service to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. Outside of work Bill enjoyed time working in his garden and canning some of his harvest. He loved spending time outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed a good game of Euchre and spent many Sundays playing with his friends at Stan’s Bar. Bill was a dedicated father and grandfather. He always made time for family and tried to attend sporting events for the grandkids.
Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother Ted Metz.
Bill is survived by his children, Angela (Neal) Riggsby of Lebanon, Gregg (Kimberly) Metz of Liberty Township, Tanya (Tony) Ford of Kettering, and Brett (Amber) Metz of West Chester; grandchildren, Brice Scott, Chaney Scott, Makynzie Metz, Haley Ford, Hunter Ford, Maelyn Taule, and Maci Metz; sisters, Sandra Crawford and Carol Metz; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and his many dear friends.
Cremation will take place. A joint memorial service for Bill and his brother Ted will be held from 1pm to 5pm on August 26, 2023, at the Shawnee Hills Community Center in Jamestown. Roberts Funeral Home is caring for the family.
